CarePoint Health recently announced a groundbreaking collaboration with the Good Dog Foundation, an organization dedicated to utilizing the incredible bond between humans and dogs to alleviate suffering and enhance learning through animal-assisted intervention.

This partnership will introduce a four-week Therapy Dog Certification Program at Hoboken University Medical Center, where individuals interested in participating are welcome to apply to join this transformative initiative.

“At CarePoint Health, we understand the profound impact that the human-animal bond can have on health care and overall well-being,” Justin Drew, vice president, marketing, strategy & patient experience at CarePoint Health, said. “We are thrilled to partner with the Good Dog Foundation to bring this exceptional program to Hoboken University Medical Center, enriching the lives of our patients and enhancing the healing environment within our facility.”

The Good Dog Foundation specializes in training, certifying and deploying volunteers and their dogs to provide invaluable support in hospitals, schools, nursing homes and various other facilities. Through this program, individuals and their canine companions will undergo specialized training to become certified therapy dog teams, equipped to provide comfort, companionship and therapeutic benefits to patients and staff at Hoboken University Medical Center.

The four-week program will encompass comprehensive training sessions, imparting essential skills and knowledge necessary for volunteers and their dogs to become certified therapy teams. The program is open to enthusiastic individuals eager to contribute positively to the community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and whose dogs have the characteristics needed to make a successful therapy dog team member. Both online application and in-person evaluation are required prior to acceptance into the program.

CarePoint launches ‘Just Health Foundation’ to further philanthropic mission

CarePoint Health recently announced the launch of the Just Health Foundation. A newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the foundation will serve as the philanthropic arm of Hudson County-based CarePoint, supporting its commitment to delivering compassionate and patient-centered health care while driving innovation in the communities it serves.

“At CarePoint, we are dedicated to improving the health of our communities through compassionate care and innovative solutions to addressing health care challenges and enhancing overall well-being. By collaborating with local organizations, health care professionals and utilizing cutting-edge technologies, we aim to revolutionize the health care landscape. Our vision is a future where accessible, high-quality care is available to all, regardless of background or circumstance,” CarePoint CEO and President Dr. Achintya Moulick said. “The launch of the Just Health Foundation is a significant step forward as we expand our efforts to provide care, particularly for the underserved and often-overlooked populations in Hudson County. The foundation’s mission aligns perfectly with our vision of promoting inclusivity, social responsibility and equitable access to high quality care, and I am looking forward to what we are going to be able to accomplish through the efforts of the Just Health Foundation.”

The Just Health Foundation’s primary objective is to bolster the critical work of these hospitals and will seek to raise funds in order to enhance key areas such as the Comprehensive Neuroscience Center, Center for Personalized Health, Cancer Programs and the Neighborhood Health Center.

One of the foundation’s initial initiatives will be commemorating Christ Hospital’s Sesquicentennial with an Anniversary Celebration & Fundraising Gala, scheduled for Nov. 2 in Jersey City.

The event, organized by Marie Duffy, chief hospital executive, Christ Hospital, and executive vice president, system clinical integration & standards, and Justin Drew, vice president, marketing, strategy & patient experience, will mark 150 years of Christ Hospital’s unwavering commitment to compassion and care in the community. Attendees and sponsors will have the unique opportunity to contribute to these various critical health care initiatives, driving innovation and transforming lives.

CarePoint Health is made up of three prominent acute care community hospitals: Hoboken University Medical Center, Christ Hospital and Bayonne Medical Center. These institutions have become essential pillars of the Hudson County infrastructure, offering a comprehensive range of services to meet the diverse health care needs of the community.
