With the Code Heart program at CarePoint Health, patients that are experiencing a heart attack are immediately rushed to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. A heart attack is a blockage of the coronary arteries and in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab this type of blockage can be opened.
Undergoing an angioplasty procedure and/or stent placement, the obstructed coronary arteries can be unblocked, restoring vital blood and oxygen to the heart. The quicker these procedures can be administered, the better. If the blocked vessel is recognized and treated quickly enough, damage to the heart muscle can be prevented.
