What type of insurance does Bayonne Medical Center accept?
Bayonne Medical Center accepts every insurance plan regardless of the patient’s insurance carrier. Patients are welcome to use any and all services that Bayonne Medical Center provides, both for in-patient and out-patient treatment. Bayonne Medical Center does not restrict access based on patients insurance benefits and will be happy to answer any and all questions related to your next visit. Patient questions should be directed to the Insurance Help Desk at 866.261.0801.
To our knowledge, in all cases, insurance plans will limit patient responsibility for emergency services to the amount of the patient’s in-network co-payments and deductibles, but patients should contact their insurance carrier for additional information.
*Please note some insurance plans only provide benefits for in-network services, while other insurance plans provide benefits for both in-network and out-of-network services, but with greater patient cost sharing for out-of-network. Patients should contact their insurance company for more detailed information about their benefits and any cost-sharing or co-pays that may be required.
Bayonne Medical Center is participating as an in-network facility with the following insurance carriers:
- Healthfirst – Managed Medicare and Medicaid Plans
- Amerigroup – Managed Medicare and Medicaid Plans
- City of Hoboken Employees – United Healthcare (administered by UMR)
Bayonne Medical Center is not currently participating as an in-network facility with the following insurance carriers (please note Bayonne Medical Center will not refuse service to any patient with the insurance plans listed below):
- United Healthcare
How are medical emergencies treated when out of network?
In nearly all circumstances, the insurance carrier is obligated to limit the patient’s financial responsibility to the same amount they would be responsible for at an in-network provider. This is to protect patients in a medical emergency to ensure they receive access to the closest, most appropriate care in the event of a medical emergency, regardless of network status.
I received a bill following services at Bayonne Medical Center and I suspect it was not paid correctly by the insurance or the balance I owe is not correct.
If you receive a bill for any amount that does not seem correct, do not pay the balance. First, please contact the Insurance Help Desk at 866-261-0801 so that we may review the account and balance with you and, if necessary, with your insurance carrier, to ensure that the statement is accurate per the services received and the applicable insurance benefit level.
CarePoint Health is non-participating with my insurance carrier, I arrived to the emergency room, and now my physician wants to admit me to the Hospital. Will my stay be covered?
Yes, your stay will be covered. When there is a medical necessity to be admitted to the hospital following a visit to the emergency room, in nearly all cases, your insurance carrier is required to limit your patient responsibility to the same amount you would otherwise pay at any other participating provider.
I still have questions; who can I speak to?
For any patient inquiries that may not be addressed above, please refer to the Insurance Help Desk (IHD) at 866-261-0801. The Insurance Help Desk is equipped to answer any patient billing or insurance questions and can also escalate resources for unique issues.
