The Multiple-Gated Acquisition (MUGA) scan is a non-invasive nuclear test. It uses a radioactive isotope, called Technetium, which is given intravenously and attaches to the red blood cells of your body, passing through your circulation. Special cameras, or scanners, trace the substance as it moves through your heart to evaluate its function.
