* This grade is also assigned in cases of academic misconduct such as cheating, plagiarism or excessive absence.

Scholastic Policy
The School of Nursing reserves the privilege of retaining in the school only to those who satisfactorily meet the requirements of academic and clinical scholarship for the nursing profession.

Bayonne Medical Center School of Nursing
Students must attain a 2.3 grade point average in each nursing course and a 2.0 in general education courses. A grade point average of less than this is considered a failure in the course. A student is allowed one failure in a nursing course throughout the program. Students who must repeat a course must do so on a space available basis and at their own expense. Students will be required to achieve a satisfactory score on the HESI exit exam.

Transfer credit for Foundations of Nursing will be evaluated based on course description, grade and length of time since course has been taken. Transfer credit will only be considered if the course was taken at an NLNAC accredited school of nursing. All general education course transfer credit will be evaluated by Hudson County Community College.

The two-year curriculum is comprised of both nursing and general education courses. Please note that nursing courses must be taken in order (i.e. Nursing I, Nursing II, Nursing III, Nursing IV) and various general educational courses are pre- or co-requisites for nursing courses. Consult with your counselor/academic advisor for specific information prior to registering for any course.

The Family Education and Privacy Act establishes the right of all students to review their academic folders. These records are kept on file at the School of Nursing. An appointment may be made with the Director of the School to review these records.

Students must give written permission before any educational information, letters of reference, or transcripts can be released to another educational institution or prospective employer. A release form is available from the School.
