As Executive Vice President and Head of Operations of the CarePoint Health Research Institute at Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital and Hoboken University Medical Center, Dr. Patwari oversees all of the hospitals’ clinical research initiatives. His responsibilities include business development, investigator training, staff training, and supervision of all clinical trials at all three CarePoint Hospitals and its affiliates.

Dr. Patwari has 22 years of experience in the management of clinical trials at both the national and international levels. He has worked as a principal investigator, sub-investigator, research coordinator, manager, director and Vice President. Dr. Patwari has made substantial contributions to the conduct and management of more than 100 clinical trials in multiple therapeutic areas including: Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Genitourology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Psychiatry, Pulmonology, Women’s Health and others.

He has conducted and managed many Phase I-IV clinical trials for various sponsors including: the NIH, Novartis, Bristol Meyers-Squibb, GlaxoSmithKLine, Merck, Pfizer/ Pharmacia, Daiichi Sankyo, Osiris, Salix, Wyeth, Progenics and Eli Lilly. Dr. Patwari has also worked on many clinical device trials for companies including Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Biomet, Lantheus, Siemens and eV3. He was an advisor to many drug companies including Novartis, Bristol Meyers-Squibb, Sucampo, Salix and Natrogen.

Before joining the CarePoint Health Research Institute, Dr. Patwari worked as Vice President of Clinical Research at Frontage Clinical Services for 3 years. He was responsible for the day to day operation of an 88 bed, Phase I-IIa clinical research center located in Hackensack, NJ. He was also responsible for management of all aspects of multicenter clinical research studies contracted by Frontage contract research organization. Dr. Patwari worked as Director of the Institute for Clinical Research at Holy Name Hospital in New Jersey for 5 years, where he established a new research facility. During his tenure, Dr. Patwari built an extensive portfolio of clinical research for the hospital and a resultant profitable clinical research business for Holy Name Hospital.

Prior to working at Holy Name Hospital, Dr. Patwari was responsible for the operation of 20 multi-specialty clinical research sites at Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC and its affiliated organizations for more than seven years. Dr. Patwari also worked as a Research Assistant Professor at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City for more than 4 years.

Dr. Patwari maintains dual certifications for both a Certified Clinical Trial Investigator (CCTI) by the Drug Information Association (DIA) and also as a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).
